Originally born Madonna Louise Ciccone after her mother. On Madonna's first communion, they added Veronica to her middle name. At the age of six, Madonna was devastated when her mother died. She exploded into fiery rebellion when her father remarried -- hell-bent on breaking every rule at Catholic school. She bucked against the school uniform by wearing brightly colored underwear, and to make sure everyone knew, she hung upside-down on the monkey bars at recess. Madonna went on to become a legend at breaking all the rules and continually reinventing herself.
