NICHOLS BLOODLINES FOR DUMMIES

JUST KIDDING... but hey it needs a catchy title...

After years of struggling to connect the names on my family tree, I have found a number of bloodlines that arent mine... As it turns out the various lines may not have a common ancestor in the last 18000 years or so... That said, I felt like all the people out there connecting people to the wrong lines may need a bit of help, so...

Thanks to the folks at THE NICHOLS SURNAME PROJECT, sorting out the mysteries is not completely impossible any more...

NICHOLS SURNAME PROJECT

Y DNA is passed down from father to son to grandson and so forth and so establishing a positive paternity is a lot easier these days.

THOMAS NICHOLS of PA. who married MARY LUDFORD came from England to Pennsylvania with his family and became the immigrant ancestor of his line. His haplogroup is R-U152. So the male descendants of Thomas would have the same bloodline.

THOMAS of PA. IS NOT DESCENDED FROM THOMAS OF PLYMOUTH who married REBECCA JOSSELYN as he is not the same blood type. THOMAS OF PLYMOUTH is

I-M253.

JOHN NICHOLS who married MARTHA PAYNE is from my line, R-CTS1571, and so cannot be the son of JOHN NICHOLS of Ireland who married BARBARA MCCOOMB and is from haplogroup I-M223.

THOMAS NICHOLS of RHODE ISLAND married HANNAH
GRIFFIN. He is from HAPLOGROUP R-L257.

JOHN NICHOLS of CAROLINE VA. who married MARY OWEN was from HAPLOGROUP  R-P312 and not the husband of BARBARA MCCOOMB.

SGT. FRANCIS NICHOLS of STRATFORD, CONN. married FRANCES WIMARKE. He is from HAPLOGROUP
G-S2808.

The key to a reliable connection is evidence. Dont just add what somebody else has added... fact check and confirm...  DNA is the tell tale tool of the modern family historian, use it when you can.
