( this information came from a letter two of the sisters wrote back and
forth -- there is also mention of Ann has five kids and Lumey Salmon's
has three kids)

PETER HANCOCK AND BETSY EDWARDS

***Peter Hancock is most likely the son of John Hancock and Mary Elizabeth Witt. Though I have conflicting sources about his date of birth, any genealogy project is going to run into that sort of thing. Sources also are in conflict of his middle name. What was it and did it start with an S or a G?
Most legal documents list him as Peter S. Hancock so I assume this to be the correct legal name, unless there were two Hancocks born in the same time frame in Virginia and who both married an Elizabeth and were both listed as the children of the same parents. Its a mystery...
